Welcome reception - Wednesday June 6th

On the first day of the school we will have a Welcome reception in the Globe, opposite CERN's main entrance. ( Pictures taken).

Visits to the LHC Experiments - Friday June 8th  (Pictures taken: ATLAS and CMS)

On Friday June 8th, the afternoon will be devoted to visits to the LHC Experiments. Tours will be organized in groups of around 12 students. Please note that some of the sites are located in France. Make sure you have the necessary documents.

Chamonix outing - Sunday June 10th
(Pictures taken in the Jura and in Geneva/Salève)

On Sunday, June 10th we have arranged a full-day outing to Chamonix, in the French Alps. Buses will be available to take participants from CERN to Chamonix. For ideas on what to do in Chamonix, visit their official site, namely the chapter on summer hikes. (Please make sure you have the necessary documents for entry into France).

Those who wish to stay in Geneva will have the opportunity to visit the town with a free pass from the Geneva Public Transport, valid for the whole length of the School. The pass allows also taking small boats (called "mouettes") on the lake. Maps, timetables and routes are available in their website. The line to/from CERN is number 9 (be careful, there are two routes and only one goes to CERN).

See also what will be on in Geneva during the school (Tourism office web pages), as well as general information about the city.

Evening boat cruise - Wednesday June 13th   (Pictures taken by Pawel and by Andrei).

We have organised a dinner on the evening of Wednesday June 13th. A special bus will take all students from CERN to the quay on Lake Geneva. The boat will leave at 19h00, and we will have a private cruise for around 4 hours. The bus will take you back to CERN around 23h30.
